About this speaker

Dr. Ruth Fletcher is the President and Head of School at St. Andrew's Schools. She began her career as an educator and scientist at the University of Delaware, where she taught in the Department of Geology. After a brief term as a staff paleontologist for the United States Geological Survey, she moved to Hawaii and began a distinguished 24- year career as an academic leader and educator at Punahou School. Dr. Fletcher is a highly skilled and knowledgeable resource in Hawaiʻi’s educational community, her work has reached hundreds of educators as the past Executive Director of the HAIS/UH Masters’ Degree in Private School Leadership, where she mentored many of Hawaiʻi’s current educational leaders. Her strong relationships and collaborative work with national educational thought-leaders has brought exemplary educational knowledge to our island community. During her tenure at St. Andrew’s, she has developed a progressive, innovative, and humanistic educational program grounded in research on how to bring out the best in each student and empower them to Kūlia i ka Nuʻu – Strive for the Highest. More than doubling the School’s endowment fund, Dr. Fletcher has formed collaborative partnerships with Kamehameha Schools and The Queen’s Health Care Systems to create scholarships and tuition assistance programs so more students can benefit from and have access to an extraordinary education.
